No Rolen for Cardinals

The Phillies know that if they hold on for the wild-card berth in the playoffs, they will be playing the St. Louis Cardinals, the team with the best record in the National League (in both leagues, for that matter).

The Cardinals announced over the weekend that third baseman Scott Rolen will undergo surgery on his left shoulder and will miss the remainder of the season, including the playoffs.

The former Phillie has torn cartilage and will need at least six months of rehabilitation once the surgery is completed.

Phillies fans will need to find someone else to boo, but that shouldn't be a problem in the playoffs.

Let's not forget that the Phillies won both series against the Cards, and have a 4-2 record against them for the regular season. If the Phils can play just as well against the Cardinals in the playoffs, they just might get a chance to match up against either the NL West team or the Braves.
