McKie farewell

Now that Aaron McKie has been let go by the Sixers, can you name the only two players on the roster today that were on the 2001 NBA Finals team?

Sure, we all get Allen Iverson, but who was the other?

A look at the Sixers discussion boards reveals that fans appreciate McKie and will miss the former Temple product.

From Sixerguy on the Philly.com Sixers discussion board: "8 years....wow is all I can say. damm, really is sad, he was part of the face of the Sixers, been through ups and downs, shared time...this is a sad day."

From DC44rules: "It's sad in a way, but that contract had to go. He was a valuable member of the team for many years so I'll always hold him in high regard. He was and still is a true pro. I'm sure he will be in new york soon."

From sixerdave: "I don't think this is a sad day. When they traded Snow, it was the right move for the team longterm. This is the right move for the team longterm.

Just as I will miss Snow, I will miss McKie as well. Each had to be let go of based on the length of their contracts, the high $$$ they were getting paid, and their deteriorating quality of play since their injuries.

I will always remember these two guys, and I will always think positively of Snow and McKie. But this is a different era. I'm ready for the future."

One thing for certain, McKie has earned the respect of Sixers fans.
